Identifying where you want your stove is the first step in determining its shape! Consider how close it will be to surrounding walls and whether wall pads are needed for added protection. Is there space for a visual octagon pad, or will a corner pad be a better fit? These are the types of questions our certified dealers can help you walk through and consult on, including necessary safety procedures and popular design choices.
Disclaimer: The Ember Defender is only available in the extension, standard, and corner shapes. For custom shape and size orders, ask your Hearth Pad dealer.

Once you determine your preferred shape, you can evaluate your space to determine specific sizing for look and clearance requirements. We recommended consulting your stove’s owner’s manual to determine its clearance requirements to ensure you meet safety standards. If you have questions, your Hearth Pad dealer can help you choose the most appropriate pad size and shape for your stove. At American Panel Hearth Products, we also offer custom sizes up to 60 inches in depth or width.
Traditional Hearth Pad Weights
Slate Pads: 10 lbs per sq. ft.
Tile ( 1” frame): 5 lbs per sq. ft.
Tile ( 1-1/4” frame): 7 lbs per sq. ft.
